I have to admit I had never heard of a fishing cat. I found this book to be educational about the endangered species. It also reminds readers that it is illegal to keep an endangered animal as a pet. It is rather sad when the family realizes the cat is a fishing cat and they abandon it. Perhaps with more books like this, people will become more aware. The book is illustrated well and has reference information on the subject. This book would be great to support studies in science and social studies.
